A mountain journey of about 20 km starting in “Ensenada” village – on the Llanquihue lake – and arrives to the locality of “Chamiza” in the “Carretera Austral” allow us to discover from north to south the Calbuco Volcano.
The “Calbuco” and its truncated summit stunningly rise between the cities of Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt, becoming one of the representative silhouettes of the region of Los Lagos. Given its morphology, the routes to reach its summit are through wooded-valleys and ridges of volcanic rocks culminating above the 2000 meters of altitude.
The crossing connects the routes of Valley of the Ulmos with the normal route through the valley of the “Río Blanco”, being an activity to explore the whole mountain. It will not only allowing access to the summits, but also enjoy their rivers, forests and panoramic views of the cities, lakes and volcanoes of Southern Chile.
The climb is characterized by start – and finish – almost at sea level (500m / 350m), with an interesting trekking through its forests, exposed ridges and easy climbs on rock/snow to access to its summits.
